Are 0800 Numbers Important For Criminals?
No they do not seem to car about 0800 numbers as they will just take anything they can but why are mobile phones taken from people, surely they are not worth that much?
Value
Phones are very valuable to you personally but to the average criminal it is actually not worth much at all. Even a second hand iPhone will be very difficult to sell for a very big profit. Mind you a profit on nothing is a lot to a criminal so you can see why when they are desperate for money that they do this.
Problems
The major problem with this kind of crime is that if you own a very expensive phone then you know it could be you. The strange thing about these crimes is that they do not stick to the women and older people but will go for anyone and everyone. Drugs are often the reason why people will steal a mobile phone, sell it on to fuel the addictiton that they have.
Too Far
Because these criminals are desperate they seem to attack people rather than just take the phone. The amount of people being killed for their phones has fallen but they are still there. It mostly occurs when people are really trying to resist being mugged. Just let them take the phone and then once you are free get to a phone and get the mobile blocked.
Protect The Phone
Smart phones like the iPhone can be password protected so that even if the phone is stolen there is no way at all they can get into it. It can be very important as quite often people will store a lot of information on their phones.
So although a criminal will not be interested in fax to email or premium rate phone numbers they could be after your mobile phone so just watch yourself.
