The Samsung Wave 2 : The Basics Explained

Posted by jones on July 24, 2010

Samsung has recently released the Samsung Wave 2 and people might be surprised at its cost. It is a lot cheaper than the original Wave, but it also has less features than the original. The reason Samsung did this is to make their phone a lot more affordable to students and teenagers who either cannot afford the more expensive smartphones or they are still on their parents plans. Make no mistake though, the Samsung Wave 2 is still a great smartphone, but it is not on the level or have the hefty price of Apple’s iPhone or the HTC Desire.

The Samsung Wave 2 has many features that any smart person would love. Texting is a breeze with its slide out QWERTY keyboard. This is especially nice if you do not like the inconvenience and mistakes that often happen when you have a smaller QWERTY keyboard or a touch screen. Another nice feature is that even though the Samsung Wave 2 has a fully working QWERTY keyboard it does not add bulkiness to the phone at all.

The Wave 2′s memory can be expanded up to 16 GB through an available external slot, which makes using the smartphone device as an MP3 player a viable option – particularly when coupled with the 3.5mm audio jack that supports any third party headphone. Even though they cannot quite compete with Apple’s iPhone apps, Samsung delivers a high quality selection of applications through its Bada operating system. Whether looking for GPS-style applications, games, or a host of other functions, the Samsung App store will please most Wave 2 users.

Another nice feature of the Bada operating system is that you can totally access all of your favorite social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, and Linkedin by taking full advantage of the QWERTY keyboard. And connecting to the internet to check your email is a easy too. The Samsung Wave 2 is a perfect accessory to have anytime, anywhere; especially if you use your phone as a primary source of connecting to all your favorite social networking sites.

With the release of the Wave 2, Samsung is not trying to outdo all of the other smartphones on the market; they are simply tapping into a portion of the market that needs and wants the convenience of a smartphone, but cannot justify the purchase of the HTC Desire or iPhone. However, the Wave 2 has quite a few features that create a bang for the buck for any smartphone user. With a full QWERTY keypad, MP3 player option, basic camera functions, social networking interface, and Samsung App Store, what more could a budget conscious smartphone shopper need?
